I have visited Volcan Osorno at least once for the past 3 years. It has the longest season I've seen in Chile and the view is definitively unique. Very often I stop just to take a picture of the Calbuco Volcano and the Llanquihue lake. Few riders, so it will feel like just you and the mountain.
However, the infrastructure and administration is not at the same level as the wonderful landscape. The security is very bad, there is often nobody in the lift stations. Two times I received chairs without sitting base and had to jump and fall. They let open tracks without snow. The staff is often having fun skiing instead of being there to help people, nevertheless they are vey likeable.
I have not seen any other place where they open at 10:00, but that actually starts at 11:00 am, so don't waste your time getting up early because you will have to grab a coffee and wait until the lifts are ready. If you are lucky both of the lifts will work.
I see progress but very slow. I hope that in the incoming years they could invest to have a place of international (or at least national) level for skiers and to be more than a spectacular view of the lake district.
