My wife, son and I spent a couple of unforgettable days on Antuco. We arrived in an unsuitable car, without chains, at dusk, in the midst of an 11" snowfall. Raul, the GM of the Club along with a few other staff pushed us up the last 500meters to the parking lot. The following morning we were greeted with fresh powder and not one other paying skier on the hill!
Adequate rental shop, excellent instructor (Ricardo), primitive accommodations, decent food, wonderful hospitality!
Two days with fresh powder and even on Saturday there were very few people on the upper slopes. One slow pommel low and a long very fast pommel to just over 6000ft. There is much volcano above that for the very adventurous, but for me several runs on virgin powder was good enough. Truly epic skiing.
But make no mistake, this is not a resort. It is a ski club in every sense but very friendly to non members. Very inexpensive - US$600 for 2 days skiing, 2 nights accommodation & food, a bit of rental gear for the three of us.
