Ortisei, in Italy (in the Trentino region), is a medium sized ski resort with 10 ski lifts (3 gondolas, 3 chair lifts, 4 surface lifts) that offers skiers an incredible 1282 metres (4206 feet) of vertical descent. Ortisei has 10 pistes. Cross-country ski trails can be found at Ortisei. The nearest airports are in Verona, Innsbruck and Bolzano. The nearest train station to Ortisei is at Bolzano.

With the opening of the ski lifts in December, all winter sports enthusiasts can benefit from new infrastructures and new connections in the Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi ski area:

The Mezdi chairlift (at Seiser Alm) will be replaced by a 6-seater chairlift, comfortable and fast, using the latest and most innovative technologies in the world.
On Monte Pana, the CHARLY slope will be widened/improved and the snow-making system will be improved and strengthened.
At Col Raiser, the connection between Seceda and Col Raiser, under the Gamsblut refuge, will be widened.
Numerous other small improvements on various slopes in Val Gardena

All this to guarantee the maximum possible efficiency and to allow skiing, in the Val Gardena ski area, to reflect the highest standards of comfort, safety and performance.

What a good place. We found a great apartment, at Ortisei, through the tourist office the morning we travelled (villa Prinoth). We drove from Bergamo which took about 3 hours. The resort has great amenities and escalators to drop you in the town or go to the lifts. Loads of pretty runs for snowboarding. Some good long ones and not too many flats. If it has snowed a lot take the single chair on the Seceda side instead of the gondola and you will get a pretty tree lined run all to yourself. If you want to do the Sella Ronda it is pretty easy going but the queues are bad on the lifts around the Wolkenstien. The igloo bar is ok. The bar staff are pretty and shake it to the music. Really worth going to Ortisei. Pretty runs, great scenery and the people are really friendly. Ortisei is a good antedote to some of the over priced French resorts.
